Kadyanda

Kadyanda is a ruined (Lycenian I believe) city above the village of Yesiluzumlu, Turkey.
It has a stunning mountain setting at about 2,000 feet.

It is about 2,500 years old and is accessed by a very narrow and quite harrowing in places mountain road.

It has baths, tombs and amphitheatre et al.

It is more or less 'undiscovered' with very few visitors although there is a 'guide' who sits there alone in a hut (he was sleeping when we arrived).

What a beautiful place. I especially like the photo through the door or window. You can almost imagine one of the inhabitants looking out at the view. I always think there is something a bit sad about old ruins like this. You wonder about the people who lived here and what their lives were like and what happened to cause the city to be abandoned. Interesting post!

Just so lovely...
We lived in a half-timbered building in Chepstow,Shropshire when we were first married, it was like living in another era.
I still miss it ;(
Great photos, thnaks for sharing !
